My cat, Marnie, has a lot of fur. Like, a lot of fur.
To the point where I’m like, “I didn’t sign up for this.”
When I first got Marnie, she looked like this:
she was so tiny… key word: was
Subsequently, she grew. She grew longer, wider, and her fur began to rival a parka rather than a medium jacket.
Exhibits B, C, and D:
lounging like a fat cat
post brushing one day
so much fur
Recently, I noticed some of the fur on her chest getting matted. My roommate and I tried to brush it out, but we failed pretty miserably. After a lot of procrastinating, I finally decided to take her to a groomer.
I was concerned since most groomers in our area focus more on dog grooming than cat grooming. One groomer even told me that they often had to sedate the cats, which would run me $85 on top of the $60 grooming cost.
I ended up going to a different groomer. These people worked with Marnie really well. The lady was very good with her. Marnie got a bath, a trim to the top of her coat, got her belly shaved and the fur on her chest dematted, and got her nails trimmed. She still smells like whatever shampoo they used. And she looks so cute:
As you can see, she looks less like a ball of fluff but she is still chubby.
The groomer said that Marnie did very well, which doesn’t surprise me terribly. She can be a handful sometimes, but she is good with people and pretty laid back.
Although I probably won’t take her to get groomed every time her fur grows back, I plan to start taking her maybe twice a year… especially when summer rolls out.
Have you taken your pets to the groomer? What was your experience?
