Originally I thought, “Man. I will be so much better at maintaining the blog during the summer when I have less going on.”
Haha. That was cute, wasn’t it?
|My room at my old apt, empty.|
I am officially the worst, and for that I am oh-so apologetic. However, here’s why I have not been blogging.
1. Moving sucks, and I’m still not completely done unpacking. Moving is literally THE WORST thing ever. Especially when you move in the middle of summer and have to take things to both a) your storage facility and b) your new place of residence. Since I moved back in with my parents for the time being, I now have to condense all my stuff into one room as opposed to a whole apartment. Needless to say, my room is full and cramped. Saddest day ever.
2. I started my internship the week after Bamboozle, and it is super awesome but takes up like 15 hours a week. That plus my 30-35 hours a week at Pizza Hut, and I am often tired. I am interning at the Academy of Fine Arts downtown. It’s tons of fun. I’ve been doing things like graphic design, writing press releases, researching competition, etc. The girl I work with directly is hilarious and super laid back. Everyone else is also super nice. I’m pretty happy that I ended up here.

3. I’ve been listening to a ton of music. Most specifically, I’ve been pretty high on the bands I saw at Bamboozle (I tend to listen heavily to bands I’ve most recently seen live — until I see other bands live and then I listen to them, etc.). So I’ve basically been listening to a ton of Motion City Soundtrack (who, by the way, released an album this week which is killer and which you should go buy now), My Chemical Romance, and Brand New. I’ve also researched these bands somewhat extensively, especially MCR because I think Gerard Way and Frank Iero are super hotties. And, let’s face it, thinking a band member is super fine really helps fuel my love for them. In researching them, I realized a pretty interesting thing: MCR fans are typically really crazy. More on that later, because my disgust for that fanbase really deserves a full post/rant.
Anyway. Music is good. That is all.
4. And finally, I have been spending extensive, extensive time on my new Kindle Fire. It was my graduation gift from my parents, and it is amazing. I haven’t paid for a book yet (there are websites that scope out good free ones) and there are a ton of free apps. So I am never bored with that thing around. I highly recommend it to anyone who has been thinking of getting a digital reader.
|I know I kind of love you a lot.|
Before, I always was one of those “nothing will take the place of paper book!!!1!” people, BUT I literally just don’t have the space to keep all the books I want to read. So, for practicality reasons, Kindles are awesome. I’m thinking of also starting a new thing where I will review/spotlight good free/cheap books from new authors here on the blog. I’ve already read some that I would never have known about if I wasn’t really searching out free books, and a lot of these authors offer their books for free because they are just starting out. So I figure it could be a good way to expose new books/authors to my fellow readers. We will see. That’s all going to depend on if I can ever tear myself away from the damn thing in order to blog again.
So tell me.. what has been distracting you guys these days?
