Lately, I’ve noticed my beloved cat – Bitch Cat – acting a bit differently. She picked a corner in our dining room to start relieving herself. Before, she always used her litter box. Always. We moved her food to that corner (they won’t eat where they poop), so she peed in my laundry basket which I keep in my closet. Now the closet door has to stay closed. Her sneeze kept getting continually worse (I assumed allergies). Plus, she was due in for a yearly check-up.
So off to the vet we went. Without my having noticed, Bitch Cat lost a full pound since last year. She’s now down to 4.75 pounds. When I took her in, she weighed 5.75 pounds. Her records indicate that she weighed a full 7 pounds in 2009. The doctor took some blood, the results of which I should get back soon. Hopefully nothing is wrong (he mentioned the possibility of kidney problems).
He also prescribed her an antibiotic for her nose (it was inflamed which is either due to the sneezing or the cause of it). It’s nearly impossible to give her this liquid medication. I practically have to force her to meow so I can stick the dropper in her mouth. And I have to do this every twelve hours for the next ten days. No fun for Bitchy Kitty and I.
Needless to say, my vet bill ended up being considerably higher than I anticipated. $262 charged to my credit card for my sweet kitty. I just hope and pray that her weight loss is nothing serious and that I can get her back up to a normal weight.
On the up side, she’s been super cuddly this week and it’s been hard to keep her away from me. I love cuddling with my kitty, so I’m loving this disposition.
